Corrections
Provisionals 1919
- Page 7: Unauthorized Prosivionals: The 10 øre bisect is
described as "green" when it should be "red"
Provisionals 1940-41
- Page 10: The illustration of the 20/1 øre provisional first
printing stamp is actually from the second printing. Although the
difference is subtle enough that readers probably won't notice it,
this illustration should be replaced in the next edition.
Independent Postal Administration
- Page 25: The illustration of #8 is incorrect. It should be a
picture of the 120 øre map stamp rather than a duplicate
image of the 200 øre stamp.
Freight Stamps
- Page 156: The eighth issue is actually "perf 10 3/4 x 10 3/4 with
imperforate sheet margins".
- Page 157: Freight stamp #F50 (5 øre value) is yellow, not
purple.
- Page 161: The caption text is incorrect. The freight letter has
four F153 and one F156 stamps on it.
Postal History: World War II
- Page 183: The occupation started on Apr. 13 (not Apr. 12) as that
is when the initial 200 troops set foot on the islands. The two
destroyers arrived on the 12th and there were some high level
meetings on the 12th but the occupation really doesn't start until
the next day.
- Page 186: The GF13 catalog title is incorrect -- it covered
1940-1945 not 1940-1941 as printed.
Postmarks
- Page 201: The catalog prices on cover for 06.05 should be 40 DKK,
06.06 should be 25 DKK, and 06.07 should be 15 DKK.
- Page 217: The catalog price on piece for 30.04 should be 60 DKK
instead of 50 DKK.
Postal Rates
- Page 254: The "inland" rates are incorrect for
01.03.1870-31.03.1871. The "inland" rate at this time was actually a
special rate for mail sent between the Faroes and Denmark before the
standard inland rates applied. The Faroe-Denmark letter rates for
this period should be 8 sk for up to 15g and 16 sk for up to
250g. For printed matter, the rates should be 4 sk for up to 50g and
8 sk for up to 250g.
- Page 255: Two inland postcard rates were omitted. The rate
increased to 25 on 15.04.1963 and to 40 on 15.05.1965.
- Page 257: In the Norway & Sweden section at the top, need to
change the date of the 1885 line to 01.01.1886 and then change the
asterisk text to "These rates were valid in Norway only starting
01.04.1885."
- Page 259: The bottom row of rate changes was omitted for
01.10.1979 in the Rates to Outside Scandinavia section. Starting
with the left box, fill in 200 | 450 | 900 | 1800 for Letters and
then 100 | 220 | 400 | 700 for Printed Matter. Postcards should be
left blank since that rate didn't change.
- Page 262: The rates for surface letters to other countries is
incorrect (copy and paste error). Instead of what is printed, the
first row should read: 10 in the first column only. The second row
should read: 14 | 22 | 42 | 72 | 110 | -. The third row should read:
18 | 28 | 48 | 78 | 126 | 200. (All values in kr.)
